AI Is a Mirror — Will We Demand Better?

On International Women's Day: parts of AI are already biased against women — from Amazon's scrapped hiring tool that downgraded résumés mentioning "women's", to identical résumés scoring differently by name, to healthcare research that ignores women. This bias feels neutral because there is no face to confront. But women are not waiting for the system to fix itself: they are training models on women's health data, writing the regulations that didn't exist five years ago, and building without gatekeepers. AI is not destiny — it is a mirror. The next chapter of AI can be different, but only if we write it.
